Weary doing good?

Weary doing good?

Harvest ahead! Don’t give up!

Growing weary happens so easily. You’d think that doing good stuff would be its own reward but an unavoidable weariness seems to set in…particularly at the start of a New Year!

This can happen because of the time delay between sowing and reaping the harvest. We invest in young people’s lives week in, week out and long to see some fruit. We prepare with various levels of enthusiasm, trusting that “God’s got this” but then things don’t turn out as we’d hoped.

Over time, sowing and waiting for a harvest can produce a growing level of weariness.

I want a harvest immediately, as soon as I’ve sown. I like finished projects…and yet God always acts with perfect timing.

Be encouraged that if you are sowing good stuff a harvest of good stuff is ahead.

As Paul writes to the Galatian Christians he seems to include his own potential for weariness as he encourages these believers,

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
