When You Can’t Go On

When You Can’t Go On

Psalm 88:1-4 (NLT)

O Lord, God of my salvation, I cry out to you by day. I come to you at night. Now hear my prayer; listen to my cry. For my life is full of troubles, and death draws near. I am as good as dead, like a strong man with no strength left.

As it happened to the author of this Psalm, there are situations in life that at times overcome and overwhelm you: an illness, the loss of a job, an injustice or the death of a child. You feel that everything is going wrong, that you are alone and you don’t have any more to give. You may even find yourself entertaining thoughts of death.

Stop! God can get you out of these difficulties. He is able to lift you up and make you laugh again! You will even help others who are going through similar situations. But first, humble yourself before the Lord. Cry out to Him day and night. Don’t dismay. Don’t hold back. Put your life completely into His hands. He will remold it and make it stronger and more beautiful than ever before.

You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I cry out to You today for Your help, for without it I will be crushed under the burden of my difficulties. I put my life into Your hands, acting by faith that You are already reaching out Your almighty arm to lift me out of this situation. Thank You for coming to my aid. I wait on You in the name of Jesus, Amen!

Have a blessed day!
