What To Do With Broken Pieces

What To Do With Broken Pieces

Jeremiah 18:3-6 (NLT)

So I did as he told me and found the potter working at his wheel. But the jar he was making did not turn out as he had hoped, so he crushed it into a lump of clay again and started over. Then the Lord gave me this message: “O Israel, can I not do to you as this potter has done to his clay? As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand.”

There are days when it seems that everything is falling apart. What you dreamed of has been shattered; what you were building was destroyed; and what you have left is full of cracks. Hold on! There is hope! God offers you a different perspective.

You see, you are looking at the broken pieces as symbols of failure and defeat; He sees them as the raw material for something new and pleasing, and stronger. And not only that, He desires to use them!

So put all that you have in His hands––what’s broken and what’s not––and allow Him to make your life a vessel of excellence. Trust, believe, be grateful for the difficult moments. Look past the discomfort and pain to realize that you are firmly caressed in the Great Potter’s hands who never crushes to destroy, but to perfect.

You may want to pray something like this: Father God, You know I am having a difficult time. But I put myself and all that I have in Your hands. Mold me and make me a pleasing, new and useful vessel so that everything I undertake will carry and overflow with Your blessing. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
