He Is Risen Indeed!
John 20:1-9 (NLT) Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed—for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead

The work of redemption was finished. Every word was fulfilled. The story was complete. And then came Sunday! Robert Lowry captured it in the great hymn he penned a hundred fifty years ago: Low in the grave He lay, Jesus, my Savior, Waiting the coming day, Jesus, my Lord! Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus, my Savior; Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus, my Lord! Death cannot keep his Prey, Jesus, my Savior; He tore the bars away, Jesus, my Lord! [Refrain] Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty triumph o’er His foes, He arose a Victor from the dark domain, And He lives forever, with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose! The Son of God is risen indeed, and today is seated at the right hand of His Father where He is your Lawyer, defending your causes and the accusations against you before the Father, and applying His shed blood in payment for your lost judgments. Hallelujah! Christ arose!
Pray this way: Father, thank You for Jesus. I bless this Easter day. Now I understand and celebrate the victory of the cross and I choose today to walk in the freedom and power of the resurrection. In the name of Jesus, Amen! Have a blessed Easter!
