Two Ways To Live

Two Ways To Live

Mark 8:34-35 (NLT)

Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.”

There are two ways to live life. On the one hand, it can be lived by seeking happiness and pleasure in a selfish way, thinking only of one’s own needs, desires and pleasures. That path always leads to deep dissatisfaction, what is gained does not last, and eventually that life is completely lost.

On the other hand, Jesus offers a different way of living. He gave Himself for your own good, and He invites you to follow Him. Right now, you can abandon your old ways and choose to walk with Him. You will not only find your own longed-for happiness, but you will increase it to overflowing by being able to share this Good News with others so that they can “save their lives” as well.

You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I want Your brand of living for my life. Today, I shed all my selfishness and my own way of living, and I choose instead to follow and obey You. I want to give my time and energy to blessing others and helping them onto this pathway of new life in You. Thank You for accepting me as Your child and disciple. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Have a blessed day!
