This Desert Is Not My Destination

This Desert Is Not My Destination

Numbers 21:4-5 (NLT)

Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey, and they began to speak against God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”

This people of Israel had seen many miracles and signs, they believed in God, but they did not believe in the promises of God, nor in the words of Moses. They allowed discouragement to dominate them, their faith to weaken, and they even wanted to go back into slavery.

When you are not able to resolve your problems, you, too, may start contemplating that the “desert” is your destination. Do not allow anguish to dominate you, do not give up, do not lower your arms, do not turn back, do not lose faith in God. Keep going, keep looking to heaven. Your help will always come from there.

You may want to pray like this: Father God, I confess and renounce my discouragement. Instead, I lift my eyes to seek our help. I ask you to be my Deliverer and Provider. I declare that this “desert” is neither my home nor my final destination. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Have a blessed day!
