Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

The yoke was a wooden apparatus used to join two oxen together at the neck for additional “oxen-power” to plow fields or pull heavy loads. The pair was always comprised of an older experienced ox with a younger, less experienced one. The older one always led the younger.
Jesus uses this illustration to say to you that you do not need to let the heavy daily difficulties bind you and tire you out. Accept the easy “yoke” of the Lord. Let Him teach you and lead you in the way so that you can “plow your field” to be economically profitable, and carry the load of family and health issues that are burdening you. His yoke is “easy” (it was made to fit you to a “t”) and His burden is light (He takes your burden on Himself because He can handle what you can’t––a win-win proposition). Take Him up on His offer today!
You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I confess that life and even the evil one have me bound and burdened down. I am tired of struggling in my strength. I give You my burdens. I accept Your yoke and submit to Your control over my life so that my “rows” are plowed straight, and my paths are rightly chosen. I rest in You and I thank You. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Have a blessed day!
