Nehemiah 1:3-4 (NLT)
They said to me, “Things are not going well for those who returned to the province of Judah. They are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem has been torn down, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.” When I heard this, I sat down and wept. In fact, for days I mourned, fasted, and prayed to the God of heaven.

Nehemiah was the most trusted person of the Persian king, Artaxerxes. But although he was personally very well off, his home city in his own nation laid in ruins, and so he prayed and fasted for her.
Today, due to a pandemic, our families, businesses, companies and cities are in crisis, and in this passage we find where the road to restoration begins.
Nehemiah sought God with all his heart, to the point of tears, not for himself, but for his people and the city of his birth. He found that God had a plan and that he was part of it. So also we find a way out in God for our nation.
You may want to pray something like this: Father God, we need Your help––Your strategy––to rebuild our city and nation. Grant wisdom to our authorities to seek Your counsel and to see what they have not yet seen. Be merciful and gracious to us and help us get through these trying times. I ask it in the Name of Jesus, Amen!
Have a blessed day!
