Zechariah 4:8-10 (NLT)
Then another message came to me from the Lord: “Zerubbabel is the one who laid the foundation of this Temple, and he will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sent me. Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”

The great temple built by King Solomon had been destroyed and reduced to rubble. Years later, Zerubbabel begins to rebuild it with little financial backing or human resources and under the constant ridicule of his adversaries in the land. All Zerubbable has to show for his efforts is a weight on the end of a string showing where the corner of the building was to go. Nothing but a string. But God encourages him to keep going, because even if the beginnings seem small, they are not to be despised. God only needs to see the project beginning so that He can lend His aid. If there is no beginning, there is nothing for Him to help.
No matter how big your project is, or how many resources you may need to achieve it, if it aligns with God’s will, you need to trust God and get to work. When He sees your “plumb line,” He will come to your aid. In time, you will see your dream come true.
You may want to pray something like this: Father God, thank You for Your counsel to me today. I understand that anything is possible if I rely on Your strength, and that if I want to see You work, I need to give You something to work with. In faith, today I take that first small step––my “plumb line.” Look on it and come to my aid, I pray. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Have a blessed day!
