Later on, in the third year of the drought, the Lord said to Elijah, “Go and present yourself to King Ahab. Tell him that I will soon send rain!” So Elijah went to appear before Ahab. Meanwhile, the famine had become very severe in Samaria…
…Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’” And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm.

When faced with a problem, we our tendency is put all of our attention on whatever it is—the illness, the bill we can not pay, the deteriorated relationship—rather than looking in the direction of the source of the solution. We look down, not up, and a result, the problem soon overtakes us rather than us overtaking the problem. But Elijah, in the face of a terrible drought and extreme hunger, prayed and looked to the heavens, not to earth, because that is where the answer to prayer would be coming from. And the small cloud that he saw was enough to announce a deluge of blessing. Look up, believing in the power of God, and not down, to the problem, because the answer to your situation always comes from heaven. Pray this way: Lord, thank You because You have an answer to every need. Now I put my problems in Your hands and I believe that the rainstorm of blessing is already on the way.
