Standing Up to the Bully

Standing Up to the Bully

1 Kings 20:1-3 (NLT)

About that time King Ben-hadad of Aram mobilized his army, supported by the chariots and horses of thirty-two allied kings. They went to besiege Samaria, the capital of Israel, and launched attacks against it. Ben-hadad sent messengers into the city to relay this message to King Ahab of Israel: “This is what Ben-hadad says: ‘Your silver and gold are mine, and so are your wives and the best of your children!’” …The king of Israel sent back this answer: “A warrior putting on his sword for battle should not boast like a warrior who has already won.”

Harassment and bullying exist not only in schools but also in every area of society. In this case, it was between one proud ruler and another one who was apparently weaker.

When your family, business, job is threatened, you can cower, lower your defenses and even become physically and psychologically ill, or you can do as the king of Israel did. Standing firmly on the Word of God, you can face the problem head on with determination and courage, knowing by faith that in the Lord you will be victorious.

Pray this way: Father, thank You for Your help. I believe that in Your name I can face all intimidation that comes at me, knowing that there are spiritual forces at work to keep me from moving forward. Today I take authority over every threat, and in the Name of Jesus I declare victory. Amen!

Have a blessed day!
