Hebrews 4:2-3 (NLT)
For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since he made the world.

The Israelites that Moses freed from slavery in Egypt were in position under Joshua’s leadership to enter the Promised Land where God would give them the rest He had promised from the oppression and injustice they had suffered. But they did not believe God’s counsel to them and ended up wandering about in a desert for 40 years.
Today, weariness under the persistent onslaught of strife, scarcity and disease may have you wandering about a desert of depression, irritation, anguish, and confusion. You need to enter into a rest in the midst of the problems you are facing.
Good news! There is one available! Being in the company of God can give you the very place of rest you need. But you exercise your faith to not only believe in Him, but to believe Him when gives a command or dictates a path to take. When you do, you will live in the assurance that He has lifted your burdens and forgiven you of all your sins, given you eternal life and that He will never ever leave your side. He will give you resting the desert on the way to your “promised land.”
You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I come to You in the midst of my “desert” seeking the rest that only You can give me. I ask Your forgiveness for my waywardness and unbelief. I invite You into my life and I submit to You to listen and obey what You say to me, and in that way I enter into complete rest that You have promised. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
