1 Kings 18:42-44 (NLT)
So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees. Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look. Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”

Because of sin in an evil king and his idolatrous government, it had not rained on the nation for three years. The drought had dried up crops and killed much of the livestock in an economy dependent on agriculture.
While the king ate and drank as if nothing was happening, Elijah kept praying until the heavens were opened.
Today there are people who, in spite of the calamity and destruction going on around them, remain indifferent to God. But others seek Him, praying earnestly and persistently like Elijah.
That is the key to open the heavens so that the drought in your life and in your nation ends, and you receive the needed rains of blessing so that whatever you undertake, you will once again reap a good harvest.
You may want to pray something like this: Father God, what a lesson in persevering prayer! I, too, cry out to You to open the heavens over my life that your showers of blessing may come upon me and my nation. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Have a blessed day!
