1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NLT)
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

So many times we speak negatively of our rulers and even of our country. But today let’s put this biblical directive into practice.
For peace and tranquility to reign in our streets, for there to be justice in our land, for us to emerge out of the crises we are facing and for all to do well, let’s come into the presence of the Lord in a special way on behalf of all governmental authority. Let’s call out to Him to guide in the lives of business and social leaders so that they make right decisions.
Above and beyond whoever may be in power, whether or not he or she is the one you like, this word from the Apostle Paul to Timothy and to us––tells us there is a Higher Power to whom we are to appeal. Speaking evil of our leaders empowers the forces of evil. Speaking blessing pushes darkness out and brings God into the mix. Go to God on behalf of your leaders, and thank Him for their lives. When the city and the nation thrive, everyone will do well.
Pray like this: Father God, I recognize that many times I have criticized those who govern and I have spoken ill of my nation. But now in obedience to your Word, I thank You for their lives and ask that they may govern according to Your will, so that the decisions they make bring peace and prosperity to our land. I speak peace to their marriages and families and households. Give them wisdom, and bless their term in office. I’m asking you in the name of Jesus, Amen!
