“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

A certain fable relates that an angel approached the sun to tell him that there were dark places on earth. When the sun came to investigate, he could not find darkness anywhere, because being created to give light, his very presence filled every place he went.
When the Son––Jesus––came into the world, the Scriptures tells us that “…His life brought light to everyone, light that shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it.” (see John 1:4-5)
Like the sun, you were created to shine! Jesus wants to fill you with His Light so that your thoughts, words and actions will bring light to every person you touch and place you enter. Christ in you makes you the light of the world!
You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I declare today what Your Word says: darkness cannot resist light! Ignite my heart to be the light in my home, in my neighborhood, in my school or place of employment to dispel all darkness with the light of Your glory. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
