Luke 1:26-31 (NLT)
In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.

The most anticipated announcement of those times when the Roman Empire was enslaving the nations was the one announcing the coming of the Savior, the Messiah. When it came, it came unexpectedly, without fanfare, in the privacy of a girl’s home, and Jesus became a man inside Mary’s womb.
That was physical reality for Mary, but in somewhat the same way, God wants enter your heart spiritually, to be part of your life to free you from everything that enslaves you in this modern world, and give you abundant and eternal life.
If you want to invite Jesus into your heart, pray something like this: Father God, I acknowledge that I need You in my life. I invite Jesus to come live in me. I receive him as my Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
If you prayed that prayer, Jesus has taken up residence in your life by means of the Holy Spirit. Begin to read the Bible beginning with the Gospel of Matthew and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you as your read. He will, and you will be strengthened in your faith as you read the works and words of Jesus.
