Exodus 2:12-15 (NLT)
After looking in all directions to make sure no one was watching, Moses killed the Egyptian and hid the body in the sand. The next day, when Moses went out to visit his people again, he saw two Hebrew men fighting. “Why are you beating up your friend?” Moses said to the one who had started the fight. The man replied, “Who appointed you to be our prince and judge? Are you going to kill me as you killed that Egyptian yesterday?” Then Moses was afraid, thinking, “Everyone knows what I did.” And sure enough, Pharaoh heard what had happened, and he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian.

Moses wanted to help his people, but doing it his own way only served to send him packing to another nation. It took 40 years for God to retrain him so He could bring him back to Egypt to be Israel’s great deliverer.
When you do things your way, you are just setting yourself up for a bad outcome. Though it may take time, there are nonetheless plenty of examples in the Bible where God transformed even the worst people into people of blessing.
You can avoid the “detour.” Put this day and your whole life in His hand. Seek the Lord continuously to know His ways in all your circumstances so that everything will go well with you.

Father God, I recognize that by doing things my way rather than Yours, things have gone wrong in my life. I have lost a lot of time, resources and relationships. But today I give You my life. I want to hear Your voice in every situation so that Your will is done, not mine. I need your guidance and direction. I ask it all in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
