Galatians 5:16-17 (NLT)
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.

Every thought, every word, and every action presents you with the free choice between two options: doing it your way or God’s. You can choose to be either a friend of your bad desires and become an enemy of the Spirit of God, or be a friend of the Spirit and an enemy of evil desire. You can choose to curse or to bless.
Let yourself be guided by the Spirit of God, so that your desires begin to match His desires. You will always have a good day and you will live a year of blessing.
You may want to pray like this: Father God, thank You for making me understand that it is my own actions that will shape my future. That is why today I decide to do Your will and discard all that is evil. I want to be a friend of the Spirit of God. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!
