Matthew 8:23-26 (NLT)
Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.

In the throes of a brutal storm, Jesus was sleeping soundly in peace while His students were being paralyzed by fear ––two completely opposite responses to the same problem.
The storms of life can overtake you even when you are “sailing with Jesus.” His presence does not make you exempt from upsets, illnesses, economic down-turns, company shake-ups or family spin-outs, but it can make you victorious.
When you go through one of these situations, do not take your cues from these disciples. Rather take them from Jesus. Know that it is possible to sleep soundly in the midst of a storm because He is in the boat with you. You can sail on in the unique peace and confidence that only His presence gives you.
You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I am so given to fear and restlessness when things turn turbulent in my life. Today, I want to renounce my faithlessness and receive the peace I need to ride out my “storms,” knowing that You are in my boat. I trust You and thank You that You will bring me to a safe harbor. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Have a blessed day!
