1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NLT)
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior,

The Apostle exhorted Timothy to bless all his authorities because they are set by God so that we may do well and live in dignity and in peace.
We are not on a soccer field where we cheer on our own team and insult the opposing team. When we speak negatively about our authorities, we are misrepresenting them and indirectly cursing the city, state and Nation. But on top of that, we are substituting our thoughts and ideas for God’s plans and purposes. This pattern of behavior soon begins to negatively affect our own lives and families.
By blessing our ruling authorities, we are actually declaring our faith and trust in a sovereign God who is in complete control.
Bless your government leaders sincerely, with joy and gratitude, because in doing so, you are neutralizing the negative consequences of the mistakes they make and are enhancing benefits of their successes. Not only will this eliminate the divisiveness in the nation but it will remove it from your own heart as well.
Pray like this: Father God, today I bless the authorities over me in my city, state and nation. I ask that you give them wisdom from above so that their decisions be righteous and bring joy and peace to the Nation. I speak Your peace to their homes and families, so that when You knock on their doors, they will not hesitate in opening the door to You. Yes, I trust in You and in Your plans for my nation. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
