History’s Most Famous Symbol

John 19:17-19 (NLT)

Carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull (in Hebrew, Golgotha). There they nailed him to the cross. Two others were crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them. And Pilate posted a sign on the cross that read, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.”

On that Passover Jesus was crucified, giving Himself to suffer a horrible death because someone without blemish had to pay the price for the sin of all mankind.

Death by crucifixion was the most terrible and frightening torture that could happen to a person. But Jesus transformed it into the symbol of love, forgiveness and salvation––making it the most famous symbol in all of history. Everyone who looks at that cross and accepts by faith the gift of redemption that Jesus paid for with His life, will not perish, but will have eternal life.

You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I thank You for sending Jesus to give his life to save mine. I nail all my sins to the cross of Jesus, and I receive His salvation, forgiveness and eternal life because I believe that Jesus took my place. In his Name, Amen!

Have a blessed Good Friday!
