Heavenly Horticulture

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)

But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

Some people’s roots are nourished by bitterness, anger, envy, jealousy, quarrels, vice, bad counsel and the like, and the fruit of that “tree” is bitter, fit for the garbage can. That is why the prophet highlights how important it is that your roots are nourished by faith, hope, love, patience, the Word of God; so that adverse circumstances do not affect you.

The deeper you are rooted in your communion with God, the higher your “tree” will grow and the more abundant your fruit will be.

Pray this way: Father God, I confess I have allowed some contaminated nutrients to affect my life. I ask you to cleanse me from all of that, and I direct my roots towards You so that my life will receive nourishment from You and produce much fruit for Your honor and glory. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Have a blessed day!
