John 13:1-5 (NLT)
It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

When Jesus was celebrating His last Passover supper with His disciples, the first thing He did when He arrived was wash their feet––a task that a servant would normally do. That gesture left them with a powerful teaching of humility, love and personal commitment to others, because it is the lifestyle of the kingdom of God.
In the wake of this Easter season, in the midst of the complicated and controversial climate in which we are living, put Jesus’ example into action in your relationships, to genuinely love, help and serve others in their adversities.
You may want to pray something like this: Lord Jesus, I thank You for having given Your life for others every day of Your life, and ultimately giving up Your life on the cross for everyone. Help me this Easter I want to follow Your example. I want to use my hands to give to the needy, my words to strengthen the fallen and my feet to reach those who suffer. In Your name I pray, Amen!
