Drying Up The Drought

Drying Up The Drought

1 Kings 17:13-15 (NLT)

But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!” So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days.

There was a great famine in the land, and this woman was about to prepare her last meal with the little she had left, and then starve to death with her son.

Nonetheless, she decided to obey God’s counsel given through the prophet, Elijah, and although the famine did not stop, she always had enough.

As you wait for this “drought” to end, do what this woman did: listen to hear what God is saying to you, give from what you have, and trust Him. He will surprise you by supernaturally providing and meeting all your needs.

You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I receive Your counsel to be a giver in the midst of my own scarcity. I place my trust in You that this same promise will be fulfilled in my life and I will lack nothing. Thank You, in the name of Jesus. Amen!

Have a blessed day!
