Matthew 22:2-5 (NLT)
“The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify those who were invited. But they all refused to come! “So he sent other servants to tell them, ‘The feast has been prepared. The bulls and fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the banquet!’ But the guests he had invited ignored them and went their own way, one to his farm, another to his business.”

Jesus brought the Kingdom of Heaven to earth, which He compared in this parable to a wedding feast to which many were invited––and to which you also are invited today. But the story reveals that the invited guests did not want to participate, choosing rather to do their own thing outside of His presence. And that is the reason there is suffering instead of rejoicing in the midst of the crises of life.
Don’t just stare at the news, worried, stunned, disappointed and disillusioned that there are no immediate solutions. The Lord has prepared a banquet table for you in the presence of your enemies––the ones you can see and the ones you can’t. This is a time to stop making excuses and to accept Jesus’ invitation to abide in His presence. Come to the table! Dinner is served!
Pray like this: Lord Jesus, I set aside my fears and excuses to accept Your invitation to come into Your Kingdom, sit at Your table and abide in Your presence. I choose today to join Your “party” knowing that in Your presence I will be able to overcome every problem and difficulty. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
