John 13:6-8 (NLT)
When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.” “No,” Peter protested, “you will never ever wash my feet!” Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”

The feet of Jesus’ disciples were dirty from walking the dusty streets of their day. Jesus humbly offered to wash their feet and in doing so taught them a foundational lesson: to abide in His presence and enter into the benefits of it, even the most insignificant impurities have enough power to pollute the heart, and that “accumulated dust” from everyday walking needed to be washed away by His hands.
Being in the Word of God day after day does this for you. In Ephesians 5:25, it is called “…the washing of water by the word….” It renews your mind, purifies your unclean thoughts, transforms your heart, changes your speech and empowers your actions. Let Him “wash your feet” every day!
Pray like this: Lord Jesus, how amazing it is that You are paying attention to even the specks of dust that my feet pick up during my daily activities! Thank You! Help me to spend time in Your Word every day so that I can fully abide in You. Wash my feet now. In the name of Jesus! Amen!
Have a blessed day!
