“Almost” Never Wins

“Almost” Never Wins

Acts 26:27-29 (NLT)

“King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do—” Agrippa interrupted him. “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?” Paul replied, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains.”

The Apostle Paul was telling Governor Festus and King Agrippa how God had transformed him, so that they, too, might believe that Jesus changes lives here on earth and also grants a passport to eternity. But the king gave the saddest of replies: “You almost convinced me.” He could not push himself to take the final step.

Do not make the same mistake; do not stay with the “I almost decided to follow Christ.” Do not miss such a great salvation for the lack of a “little” more effort. “Almost” never crosses the finish line. Make firm and courageous decisions in every area of your life to crowd out the negatives that doubt and hesitation bring.

You might like to pray like this: Father God, I don’t want to be caught hesitating at the threshold of blessing or delaying at the door of eternal life. I come today believing that Christ died for my sins and rose again to give me eternal life. I choose to live making firm decisions of faith to lay hold of all that He purchased for me. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!

Have a blessed day!
