1 Samuel 13:19-22 (NLT)
There were no blacksmiths in the land of Israel in those days. The Philistines wouldn’t allow them for fear they would make swords and spears for the Hebrews. So whenever the Israelites needed to sharpen their plowshares, picks, axes, or sickles, they had to take them to a Philistine blacksmith. The charges were as follows: a quarter of an ounce of silver for sharpening a plowshare or a pick, and an eighth of an ounce for sharpening an ax or making the point of an ox goad. So on the day of the battle none of the people of Israel had a sword or spear, except for Saul and Jonathan.

Israel was facing unfair odds. Its enemies had the technology to make iron weapons and refused them access to it. Even with these enormous limitations, the Bible records that God gave them a great victory (see 1 Samuel 14).
When your circumstance seem unjust; when resources are down to just the coins jingling in your pocket and you do not know how you will pay your bills; when there is no medicine available; when it seems that everything is piling up against you, remember that against all odds God always has resources that are unlimited, and that if you seek Him, He will provide you a way out. Take a step of faith now, holding on to Jesus Christ and you will also see victory in your life and family.
Pray like this: Father God, I take a step of faith to put my life completely in the hands of Jesus. I believe that He will open pathways under my feet and lead me to victory and safety. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Have a blessed day!
