About Word Matters: Words Matter

Matthew 12:35-37 (NLT)

“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

You can change your life by changing the words that come off your lips. But to change your words, you will need a change of heart.

When your heart is not right, your words are negative, producing a never-ending flow of criticism, useless banter and brutal sarcasm which eventually could destroy those who are listening to you. And at the end of the day, those words will come back to condemn you.

But when your interior is full of Jesus, your words are drip with encouragement, comfort and edification that will enrich others. Those words will be the ones that will absolve you.

Ask God to change your heart, so that you can speak out of a vocabulary of blessing. You are not too late to be transformed.

You may want to pray something like this: Father God, I realize that many times my language is not appropriate, that good words do not come out of my mouth, but rather words that discourage, distract and even crush others. So I come to You today to give You my heart, so that You can renew it, clean it, heal it and turn it into a fountain fro which words of blessing will flow. I ask you in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen!

Have a blessed day!
